Video: ‘Harry Potter’ Actor Wins MMA Debut in London

Josh Herdman is best known to “Harry Potter” fans as Gregory Goyle, a member of Slytherin house and lackey of the villainous Draco Malfoy. Now, the 28-year-old Englishman can also add “MMA fighter” to his résumé.

Herdman, who appeared as Goyle in all eight installments of the “Potter” film franchise, made his amateur MMA debut at an April 23 event from London-based promoter Rise of Champions. Herdman faced fellow newcomer Janusz Walachowski in a catchweight bout at 176 pounds, and after three three-minute rounds, it was Herdman who saw his hand raised via unanimous decision.

Herdman fights out of West London gym Pro Mai Martial Arts Academy. According to his page at IMDb.com, Herdman’s most recent acting role was in the British independent film “Sink.” Herdman is the son of Martin Herdman, a fellow actor and former rugby player.
