NR | Dean Barry (4-1, 0-0 UFC) vs. NR | Mike Jackson (0-1, 0-1 UFC)BETUS ODDS: Barry (-1500), Jackson (+750)
It is certainly a surprise to see Jackson back in the Octagon. Best known as a media member and fight photographer, Jackson had some amateur experience before finding himself in the middle of the leadup to the Phil “CM Punk” Brooks-Mickey Gall fight. Gall’s UFC debut came against Jackson, theoretically to show that he was worthy of the fight against Brooks. Gall won in less than a minute, and after Brooks’ own poor performance against the New Jersey native, the next obvious move was to put “CM Punk” against Jackson, which wound up happening at UFC 225 in 2018. The less said about the fight the better. It mostly came down to Jackson having much better cardio, and UFC President Dana White wound up blasting him afterwards for failing to finish an exhausted Brooks in the third round. Despite White proclaiming repeatedly that Jackson was not UFC-caliber, “The Truth” is back nearly four years later to take on a promotional newcomer in Barry. An Irish kickboxer, Barry prefers to fight with a long karate stance and a style built around picking apart his opponents and keeping them at range. He is still quite unproven and the flashes of grappling he has shown have not been particularly inspiring, but he should be able to hit Jackson hard enough to end this given how poorly the Texan reacted to being punched by Gall. The pick is Barry via first-round knockout.
