UFC 210 Betting Preview: Cormier vs. Johnson 2
Apr 8, 2017
(SPONSORED CONTENT) -- It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the
light heavyweight title up for grabs, and if the UFC 210 betting odds are
correct, then Daniel Cormier is in for one hell of a fight. The
champion and challenger are virtually dead even in the sportsbook.
Can Rumble Johnson avenge the only loss he’s suffered in the last
five years?
Cormier has battled groin and foot injuries for a while now. He defended his title for the first time against Alexander Gustafsson in a controversial split decision, and then went on to beat Anderson Silva at UFC 200. But the real reason that he’s locked so closely to Johnson in terms of UFC 210 betting odds isn’t because of his constant, nagging injuries – it’s because Rumble is one of the only men to knock Cormier off his feet.
The power of Rumble Johnson is to be feared. Since losing the fight
for the vacant light heavyweight strap back at UFC 187 in May 2015,
Johnson has been on a vindictive rampage. He’s torn through his
last three opponents, including Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira, by
ending them with fist strikes.
The rematch between Cormier and Johnson is going to be an absolute thriller. Both have so much to prove, and this might be the last time the challenger gets a shot at the title. It’s the resilient durability of Cormier versus the relentless fury of Johnson’s fists. This main event sits atop a card that is stacked with action as well.
For his part, Weidman’s defence has come under tremendous scrutiny. The former middleweight champion once looked unbeatable, but now his protection in the later rounds is becoming a recognized flaw. Can he patch up the fences, or is the aura of invincibility around Weidman now vaporized?
Patrick Coté steps back in to the octagon after recently going to town against Donald Cerrone in a tight loss. He’ll boast -160 odds as the favorite against the seemingly slipping Thiago “Pittbull” Alves, who has lost his last two fights decisively. Alves will enter at +140 and the fan favorite has to prove that there’s plenty of fight left in this underdog.
Cynthia Calvillo will be favored in UFC 210 betting at -225 against Pearl Gonzalez, who holds a mark of +190. While Gonzalez is certainly a respected wrestler, Calvillo is regarded as a rapid riser in the strawweight division. Her full arsenal should be on display in this one as she hopes to improve her stock and move up the rankings quickly with a strong showing.
Charles Oliveira is the biggest underdog on the card at +230 as he returns to lightweight after failing to flirt with the featherweights. Will Brooks, a former Bellator Lightweight Champion in his own right, stands as a -270 favorite though he is coming off just the second defeat of his 21-fight career. Either a return to his natural weight class will help Oliveira regain his form, or Brooks will prove that the division needs to start paying him more attention.
UFC 210 betting odds are currently live. The event will take place on Saturday, April 8th out of Buffalo, New York and will be televised on pay-per-view.

The UFC 210 betting odds between Gegard Mousasi and Chris Weidman
have been dancing all over the place. Essentially, Mousasi is a
narrow favorite and this is most definitely the fight where he can
make his biggest mark. Mousasi has been on the backburner for far
too long, and it’s time that he put himself in contention for a
title. A battle with Chris Weidman, who is coming off two nasty
defeats to Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero, will either cement his
place as a contender…or permanently mark him as a gate keeper to
the next level.
