Bellator 143 Weigh-in Results: Joe Warren, L.C. Davis Cleared for Bantamweight Headliner

Joe Warren talks the talk about as well as anyone in mixed martial arts, and, love him or hate him, the self-proclaimed “Baddest Man on the Planet” walks the walk more often than not.

A former two-division Bellator MMA champion, Warren clocked in at 135.75 pounds ahead of his three-round showdown with World Extreme Cagefighting, Sengoku and International Fight League veteran L.C. Davis (135.75) in the Bellator 143 main event on Friday at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. Middleweight co-headliners Kendall Grove (185.5) and Joey Beltran (186) also hit their intended marks at Thursday’s official weigh-in.

Bellator 143 -- which airs live on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT -- will also feature a featherweight scrap matching Roufusport export Emmanuel Sanchez (146) with Henry Corrales (145.5) and a heavyweight tilt pitting Team Nogueira’s Vinicius Kappke de Queiroz (237) against the unbeaten Ewerton Teixeira (236).

Warren and Davis are the centerpieces. An NCAA All-American wrestler at the University of Michigan who went on to claim Greco-Roman gold at the 2006 FILA Wrestling World Championships, the 38-year-old Warren last appeared at Bellator 135 on March 27, when he submitted to a second-round kneebar from Marcos Galvao and surrendered the promotion’s bantamweight crown. Davis, 34, will enter the cage on the strength of a three-fight winning streak, having beaten Taurean Bogguess, Zeilton Rodrigues and Hideo Tokoro in succession, the latter in a “Fight of the Year” contender.
