Invicta Import Alexis Davis to Meet Bellator Vet Rosi Sexton at UFC 161 in Winnipeg
The UFC’s latest women’s bout is now set, as promotion officials recently announced that Alexis Davis will face Rosi Sexton at UFC 161.
The June 15 event marks the Las Vegas-based organization’s first trip to the Canadian province of Manitoba and takes place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Renan Barao will defend his interim bantamweight title against Eddie Wineland in the evening’s main event. The main draw airs live on pay-per-view and will also see former light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua toe the line against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in a rematch nearly eight years in the making.
Davis, 28, has won five of her last six fights, with only a hard-fought majority decision defeat to former Strikeforce queen Sarah Kaufman marring her record in that span. “Ally-Gator” made her Invicta Fighting Championships debut last year with a second-round submission of Hitomi Akano and followed that performance with a third-round technical submission of Shayna Baszler on Jan. 5 at Invicta FC 4.
Sexton, meanwhile, rides a three-fight winning streak into her UFC debut, though she has competed just twice in the last two years. The two-time Bellator veteran last appeared under the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship banner, taking a unanimous decision from Aisling Daly this past June at CWFC 47.
