Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller Cleared of 2013 Domestic Violence Charges in Orange County Court

Troubled mixed martial artist Jason Miller was acquitted of domestic violence charges in Orange County Superior Court on Thursday stemming from an alleged incident with his ex-girlfriend in the fighter’s Mission Viejo home in 2013.

The jury found Miller not guilty of beating his ex-girlfriend, Anna Stabile, after an hour of deliberation, according to a report from the Orange County Register. Miller was also found not guilty of a misdemeanor charge of violating a restraining order. “Mayhem” was facing up to five years in prison had he been convicted.

Stabile alleged that Miller assaulted her twice and straddled her and “repeatedly punched her in the face,” according to the report. However, jurors were not presented with sufficient evidence from Stabile to prove the alleged assault.

“I feel like the world has opened up to me,” Miller told the Register. “I feel like things have finally cleared up for Mayhem.”

Miller, 36, has run afoul of the law several times in recent years and still faces existing charges for vandalism, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. He also live tweeted a SWAT standoff in October 2014 while barricaded inside his Mission Viejo home as sheriff’s deputies attempted to detain him on an arrest warrant.

The former UFC and Strikeforce competitor retired in 2012 but returned to compete for Italian MMA promotion Venator FC last May. Miller missed weight by more than 24 pounds for a proposed matchup with Luke Barnatt at the event. While that bout was nixed, Miller would square off against Mattia Schiavolin, losing via rear-naked choke at the 3:10 mark of round two.
