Fighter of the Year Liddell, Faber on Beatdown
TJ De Santis and Sherdog.com editor Josh Gross are joined by "The California Kid" Urijah Faber (Pictures) and UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell (Pictures) for the Monday edition of "Beatdown."
Liddell's 2006 effort was impressive. Knockout wins over Randy Couture (Pictures), Renato "Babalu" Sobral, and most recently at UFC 66, Tito Ortiz (Pictures), garnered "The Iceman" Sherdog.com's nod as Fighter of the Year.
Chuck joins "Beatdown" to talk about his latest win over Ortiz, clarify reports on the severity of his knee injury, and discuss what the new year may hold for him.
Faber competed six times in multiple organizations in 2006, and this looks to be another big year for the 145-pound fighter. Faber talks about his contract status with Zuffa-owned World Extreme Cagefighting, his upcoming WEC title defense versus Joe Pearson (Pictures), and promotes the first in a four-part MSNBC documentary which debuts Tuesday at 10 p.m. EST.
TJ and Josh read listener e-mail and discuss the decision that led to Liddell being named Sherdog.com's 2006 Fighter of the Year.
