PFL Welterweight Finalist Sadibou Sy: ‘This Year Is the Year’
One of just a handful of fighters to compete in all four seasons of Professional Fighters League, Sadibou Sy believes his time to shine has finally come. Sy (12-6-2, 1 NC; 6-4-2, 1 NC PFL) is just a victory away from the 2022 PFL welterweight championship and the $1 million award. Sy’s path to this year’s final featured three straight triumphs. First, “The Swedish Denzel Washington” took home a narrow split decision over Nikolay Aleksakhin before dominating former Bellator MMA 170-pound kingpin Rory MacDonald. In the playoffs, he upended Carlos Leal Miranda on all scorecards to secure a place in the finals, where he will face Dilano Taylor on Nov. 25.
“This year is the year I will be the world champion for the first time, getting this belt and the money will come with it. I've trained, I've evolved, and, I believe that even though Dilano is very nice kid, a very good fighter, a dangerous opponent, don't get me wrong, I believe that I have everything to be victorious. I believe that's what we're gonna see on Nov. 25."
