Guida and "Strikeforce" Wrap Up on "Beatdown"
Eighteen thousand people packed the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. Friday to witness "Strikeforce," the first legal
mixed martial arts event in the Golden State's history. Sherdog.com editor Josh Gross was on hand and discusses the
historic night with "Beatdown" host TJ De Santis.
Lightweight Clayton Guida (Pictures) was brought in to fight San Jose's Josh Thomson (Pictures) in a five-round Strikeforce title bout. Coming
off a quick loss last month in KOTC, Guida was given little to no shot against "The Punk." A motivated Guida had other
plans and dominated Thomson for almost all of the 25-minute battle. The Chicago-based fighter joins De Santis and Gross
to talk about his upset win.
Keeping with the theme, California State Athletic Commission Executive Director Armando Garcia joins us to discuss the
future of MMA in his state. Garcia talks about the number of MMA cards he expects to be promoted in California this year
and just how successful "Strikeforce" was at the gate.
Step up and get "Beatdown" on the Sherdog Radio Network!
